Paying it Forward

One of the assistants at my office has a young daughter who is taking sewing classes as one of her summer activities. I packed up a shopping bag of cottons left from other projects and brought them to work yesterday for her to sew with.

M was very appreciative, and I only wish that I could have seen her daughter's reaction. It's fun to be able to encourage a new sewer!

I had a lady working for me a couple of years back who had a then 9 year old daughter who loved to sew. I used to bring her all my little remnants to make doll clothes, and for her 10th birthday, I bought her the mini Kenmore sewing machine (which was on sale for about $30). It was remarkable how nice it felt to make a little girl so happy! And I agree about encouraging new sewists!
